Live Scan

What is a Live Scan?

A Live Scan is a digital fingerprinting process used to run background checks. Instead of using ink and paper, your fingerprints are scanned electronically and securely sent to the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the FBI. These agencies check for any criminal history that might prevent someone from serving in certain volunteer or staff roles.

Why Bayside Uses Live Scans

At Bayside Church, we take the safety of our church family—especially children, students, and vulnerable adults—very seriously. Live Scan helps ensure that everyone serving in ministries like Kids, Students, Special Needs, Care, and Outreach has been properly screened.

This process:

  • Confirms the identity of volunteers and staff
  • Ensures compliance with California state guidelines for organizations working with minors
  • Protects our community by maintaining a safe and trustworthy environment

In short, Live Scan is an important step that helps Bayside continue to be a safe place for everyone to connect and grow in faith.
